This class will suit beginner or intermediate weavers who are interested in making an Asian style fish-trap using paired twining.
In this catered workshop Harriet will provide all the materials and cover:
The history of basket making and global techniques
Materials & Tools
Hand making cordage from plant materials
Paired twining technique to make a basket shape with rattan.
You will go home with a fish trap style basket which you can later turn into a lampshade if you wish (electrical components will be discussed but will NOT be supplied)
PLEASE BRING:
A pair of sharp scissors
A spray atomiser bottle for water
An apron or old clothing
Any favourite feathers yarns, raffia or shells you would like to incorporate
Morning tea and a light lunch will be provided.
