BASKETRY 101 - Fundamentals of Contemporary Basketmaking

This class is for complete beginners or early stage weavers who are interested in an overview of several varying techniques. Harriet will guide you through:
History of basket making globally
Materials & Tools
Setting up a home studio
Hand making cordage from plant materials
Coiling stitched baskets
Plant list materials - how to harvest and store materials from nature
Stake and strand baskets - how to begin - twining vs randing
Random weave a small nesty basket
Finishing and embellishing your baskets
NB: It is very important to note you will most probably not be able to finish your baskets during the weekend. You will definitely have several started and all the information you need to finish them at home and Harriet is always available to answer questions after class. Most people go on to finish and make more after the class.
