This intensive weekend of weaving will suit anyone who is interested in learning traditional basketry techniques, natural dyeing and leatherwork. We will be making a small functional basket that you can use in daily life.
In this workshop Harriet will cover:
The history of basket making and global techniques
Materials & Tools
Notes on techniques
Hand making cordage from plant materials
Making a base form with rattan and shaping the sides using twining and wales.
How to do some basic leatherwork including riveting to make handles for your basket.
A notepad and paper
A pair of sharp scissors
A pair of sharp secatuers.
A spray atomiser bottle for water
Old clothing that can be stained and an apron.
An old towel and a plastic bag to take your towel home in.
